Brinbergh's Colours
Miranda van den Bergh (nom de plume Miranda BrinBergh) lives in the Netherlands where, after having obtained a doctorate in Medical Sciences in 2011, she became a full-time artist and writer. She was born in 1972 in Lisbon, Portugal, and has lived for twenty years in Utrecht.
Ever since childhood Miranda has been involved in drawing and painting; but her passion for art lay dormant for many years while other interests, mainly in biology, philosophy and political science, drew her attention. Her work with acrylic on canvas (or wood panel) can be mainly labelled as abstract expressionism. She's a self-taught artist.
"I experience painting as a liberating, exciting and definitely surprising process: it seems that I'm a puppet in a play not directed by my previously thought-out plans, but by my hands. '
"I intuitively seek balance between form and colour; at the end of (or during) the process, it might happen that the image on the canvas reminds me of something in particular but this occurs randomly."
